It’s so important to honor these dedicated service professionals for all they do! Whether it’s Customer Service Representatives, CSR’s, Customer Service Professionals, Member Services, Account Specialists, Sales Associates, Whatever the title you want to call them…HONOR THEM!

How many of us have gone to work in our careers and received positive feedback about our work? Once in a blue moon? How about the negative feedback? Probably much more often! Most customer service professionals want to do their job well, exceed and advance. It’s our job as owners, managers, directors and presidents to create a positive atmosphere on the job! Recognize, Reward and for long term success; lead your team to a happy place!

How do you get to such a place?

Follow these 5 steps.

1) Smile and give Positive Feedback when they’re doing a good job. Teach them and give meaningful feedback when they’re not doing the job right.

2) Get to know your staff more…Have weekly meetings, take them to lunch or happy hour.

3) Create a fun atmosphere at the workplace…Play daily sales games, reward customer service for up-sells and exceeding sales goals. Have a Halloween Costume Party, Holiday Dinner, Company Picnic, and Celebrate Customer Service Week and Employee Appreciation Days. You can use promotional products alone or attach gift cards to promotional items and use it for rewards for staff contests.  See our Customer Service Week category for unique promotional product ideas.

 4) Give reviews and promotions from within. Announce these promotions regularly at the company. If possible allocate budget dollars for raises and bonuses based on performance.

5) Lead by example…get your hands dirty and contribute when it gets busy. Get on the front lines and help.

It’s important that you create a positive atmosphere in the workplace and create that happy place! There is nothing better when there is a smile in your voice when dealing with customers! It’s contagious.

I would love to hear all about your activities for the Customer Service Week and how you honored your customer service professionals? Why celebrate it 1 week out of the year? You can recognize your customer service team year round and create that happy place! I would love to hear your ideas about creating that happy place so we can share with others.
